§ 2-45. Mayor.

  • (a)

    Preserving peace and good order. The mayor shall have authority in case of a riot or any unlawful assembly, in order to preserve peace and good order in this city, to order and enforce the closing of any theater, ballroom, liquor store, barroom, public or private, or other place of resort or public room or building, and may order the arrest of any person violating in his presence the laws of the state or any ordinance of the city.

    (b)

    Duty to sign official documents. The mayor shall sign officially all warrants upon the city treasury and all notes, bonds, and obligations in writing of the city, and all written contracts of the city unless such authority has been delegated by other provision of this Code.

    (c)

    Service of process or notice against city. Whenever any process or notice shall be served on the mayor in any legal or other proceeding against the city, or in which the city is a party, he shall deliver the same or a notice thereof to the city attorney in order that the same may be attended to.
