§ 2-38. Workmen's compensation.

  • (a)

    Adoption of state law. The provisions of article 8309h of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas are hereby adopted and made applicable to the city and to all its departments and employees.

    (b)

    Coverage. The city hereby elects to be self-insuring, and all employees of the city are insured by the city in the manner and to the extent authorized by article 8309h of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas and the statutes referred to therein. The city shall pay to any and all employees or their representatives and beneficiaries the compensation and benefits to which they may become entitled under the terms of the workmen's compensation laws applicable to the city.

    (c)

    Duties of city manager. The city manager shall administer the workmen's compensation program and shall make such rules and regulations as he may deem necessary for its administration.

    (d)

    Account. The finance department shall set up an account on its books to be known as the workmen's compensation account, and from such account shall be paid all administrative expenses, charges, benefits, insurance and accounts authorized by Article 8309h of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas. Such account shall show the appropriations made and all receipts from other sources and all disbursements authorized under such acts.
