§ 19-51. Definitions.

  • The following classifications for water customers of the city are adopted as defined in this section and will be applicable to rates established in this division:

    Commercial and industrial shall mean all customers purchasing water from the city, except residential, multifamily units and nonresident water usage.

    Fire protection meter shall mean a meter to furnish water service solely dedicated to fire protection. To qualify for a fire protection meter the customer must certify to the city the purpose of the dedicated use.

    Irrigation meters shall mean those meters and water service dedicated solely to furnish water service to lawn sprinkler systems or irrigation systems.

    Multifamily living unit shall mean each residential living space located in a multifamily unit. A door charge will be charged for each living unit door; for example: An apartment complex with twenty (20) units would have twenty (20) doors.

    Multifamily unit shall mean any group of four (4) or more living units, including mobile home parks, apartments, condominiums, townhouses and nursing homes to which water service is furnished by a single meter and all of which units are under the same ownership.

    Residential means a single-family residence, duplex residence or triplex residence to which water service is furnished by a single meter.
