The city hereby elects to participate in the supplemental death benefits fund of the
Texas Municipal Retirement System beginning on the first day of the calendar month
following written notification to the system of the adoption of this section, for
the purpose of providing in-service death benefits in the amounts and on the terms
provided for in VTCS, Title 110B, sections 65.314 and 65.409, for each of the city's
employees who are members of the system, and for purpose of providing post-retirement
death benefits as provided in such sections as an employee of this city.
(b)
Participation of the above-mentioned employees and annuitants in the supplemental
death benefits fund shall be effective on January 1, 1980.
